Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs (SWPPP) Services
Plan Designing/Information: There is much more involved in SWPPP compliance than just implementing a few sandbags or sheeting off an embankment. BMP’s "Best Management Practices”, must be implemented year round to control sediments and non-stormwater discharge into our storm drain systems. We have professionals that can help you create your SWPPP and REAP (Rain Event Action Plan) for your specific jobsite and provide information and tailgates to advise you and your contractors which BMP selection is most effective for your site.
Training: As stated in the NPDES permit, ongoing SWPPP awareness training is required for all industries, trades and general contractors in California where activities may contribute to storm water pollution. Scott Environmental satisfies these requirements by doing the following:
- Delivery of SWPPP training tailgates
- Communication with staff and designating responsibility
- SWPPP training programs Onsite or Online
- SWPPPS 101
This course covers soil and sediment, SWPPPS control measures, and basic review of the requirements stated in the General Permit. Designed to inform and certify all workers on how to stay compliant. - SWPPPS Advanced
SWPPPS Advanced is a course designed for Subcontractors and General Contractors. This course will cover everything in SWPPPS 101 and specify on BMP selection, site inspection, and necessary actions during rainy/dry seasons. - SWPPPS General Permit
A course that aims to teach contractors all the requirements for compliance under the General Permit. This course will include information on risk level assignment, mandatory sampling and analysis requirements, and compliance documentation
- SWPPPS 101
Inspections/Monitoring: Compliant worksites require a monitoring and inspection system in place to help identify BMP’s that are inadequate or malfunctioning. Inspections must be an ongoing process especially when new trades and activities are present on the jobsite. Along with regularly scheduled inspections, jobsites must be inspected before, during, and after the storm event if there is a 40% change of precipitation. We specialize in scheduled and unscheduled inspections on the jobsite and documentation of inspections. We can also combine SWPPPS and OSHA compliance inspections to save both time and money.
Sampling and Lab Analysis: Under the new requirements for the 2010 General Permit, builders are required to have certified professionals sample upstream and downstream during every rain event to detect any non storm water discharges from the jobsite. At Scott Environmental, we have certified staff that can effectively collect samples onsite and have the samples processed immediately.
Maintenance: The SWPPP Manual is a living document and must be updated continuously to show corrections to BMP’s and scheduling. A continuously updated SWPPP manual is one of the first items a State or Regional Water Quality Board member will look for. We will keep you updated and supplied with all the documentation and materials a State or Regional Water Quality Board member would search for.
